Welcome all to this site im Lester timmings or Tim as Terry would call me, i have know Terry Beale since 1974 to when we first met up to play in a band.

In june 2010 Terry asked me to write Autobiography off him well i thought this a great thing to do for some one so we did talk about the past and i think i know most of it. In march 15th 2011 Terry Beale pasted on so im still going a head with this site But i think the first should be about Terry Beale Tribute to him and the people who have wrote in

Eulogy for Terry Beale Lester I wrote this on the middle of the night over the Pacific Ocean..and didn't recall your name at the time.Hence I don't mention your name specifically?..anyway here goes:-

I never met him,I only talked to him on the phone a couples of times.
For years he was the songwriter who,through no fault of his own,
Wrote NEw Zealand's first international #1 record..She's A Mod.
His Aussie Publisher who also published the Beatles' catelogue Down Under..gave me an acetate of the song..because I was getting famous for creating my own dance while singing onstage.
So The Mod's Nod...gave me the ticket to record She's A Mod with my group Ray Columbus & The Invaders...the rest is history..Six Tours ofAustralia and New Zealaand...with everyone ?almost...Roy Orbison,The Searchers,Del Shannon,The Rolling Stones and many more Hermans Hermits,Tom Jones,Peter And Gordon.And all because we made #1 with Terry's song...others followed of course..but SAM tells the simple story of my life.
We didn't talk on the phone until almost 40 years later..emailed too! Because there was a great idea to do a Hip Hop version for the World...juxtaposed with my Group's Iconic film clip with the dance that started all all.
Terry and I loved the idea..thought that finally the US would discover the whole mod thing...and we would have more fun.
The Jewish saying...'Men Plan...God Laughs!'springs to mind here.
because it  did NOT happen that way.
Phone calls and emails between us stopped until last week..when a musical friend Lester Timmings of Terry's emailed me from the UK about Terry Beale's Passing.
I got another shock..I say another because..I had already lost three other  friends in the Music Business since the 22 of February.
Then there was Terry...he had been troubled for sometime..from what I understand..had a drinking problem maybe..too.....but the really sad thing about his death is the fact he was on his own at the time..and he wasn't found  for Three days!
That isolates him from the others...The talent who helped launch the career of one of NZ's favorite sons  is dead....a lot of people thought I was the songwriter..never said it myself ..I created the dance..that dragged the demo to me. And I am still alive,I am 68 years old about to have my autobiography published by Penquin Books...It will be called The Modfather.
Thankyou Terry Beale...I still don't know what actually Occurred with your death...I hope the remake of our hit that failed..didn't contribute!
I hope you had a good,rich and Fulfilled life..I have.and your song.z.contributed exponentially to that,and now you are gone.
We will always be linked so I am sorry we didn't meet..face to face.you apparently were aware of your imminent death and mentioned my name and contact details to your Associate,but I didn't know until he made contAct .
I will never forget you And what you did for me.
